Would the request still exceed costs if it was for just the three most recent years (ie 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016, 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017, 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018)? If not, please could I have this data?

This is a revised version of your original request under the Freedom of Information Act for:

The number of reports TPR received alleging an employer had been inducing an employee to opt out of pension schemes for the following time periods; 1 April 2013 to 31 March 2014, 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015, 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016, 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017, 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018.

Information we are able to supply

We manually checked all potential cases which fall within the periods specified in your request and which involve reports alleging that an employer had been inducing an employee to opt out of pension schemes. We found 99 cases which primarily relate to inducement and a further 15 cases which relate to inducement. These breakdown within specified periods as detailed below:

  • 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016: 12
  • 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017: 38
  • 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018: 64
